Short answer: March is the tail of the winter run, not the end of the season. The Atlantic still sends regular swell and the points still work, and between those pulses come the first small, glassy spring days. Days around 22°C, nights around 11°C, water around 17°C, so the 4/3 wetsuit stays on and stays included. A week at The Pearl costs the same as in any other month: from €420 (dorm) for surf, from €510 (dorm) with daily yoga.
We run two surf houses in Tamraght, a village just south of Taghazout, and March is a month we recommend more often than people expect. Here is the honest version.
The three numbers
| March in Tamraght | |
|---|---|
| Air, daytime | about 22°C, nights about 11°C |
| Water | about 17°C, a 4/3 wetsuit, included with the week |
| Daylight | longer than in January; the sun sets after six |
Agadir coast averages, not a forecast for your week. In practice: shorts on the beach at midday, a jacket once the sun goes, and water that has not caught up with the air yet. The sea warms slowly from April, so March is still a full winter suit, and the 4/3 is included.
The waves
December to February bring the biggest and most consistent swells of the year, and the famous points work most often then. March does not switch that off: regular swell keeps arriving, the points still line up on the good pulses, and improvers still get proper walls. What changes is the space between the pulses, where March mixes in small, clean mornings with glassy faces, the kind of day a first-timer wishes for and a mid-winter week rarely gives.
On the bigger days coaching happens on the sandy beach breaks below Tamraght, and the more confident guests move to the points when the coach says they are ready; on the small glassy days everyone surfs the same peak, and beginners get their first green-wave rides. Two hours of coached surf plus two hours of supervised free surf a day, with the spot chosen each morning for the tide and the group.
Who March suits
Mixed-ability groups, first of all. A couple or a group of friends where one has surfed and one has not is the classic March booking, because one week serves both without anyone sitting out. It also suits a first trip that wants a taste of everything: a few days of real winter size to watch and learn from, a few small enough to try things. Our beginner guide covers how the coaching works.
The crowd, and Easter
March is quieter than February. The school-holiday crowd has gone home, the summer one is months away, and most weeks the line-ups at the learner spots have room. Our houses run at the usual 12 guests a week, mixed levels, and about 70% of our guests arrive alone.
The exception is the last week. Easter falls on 28 March 2027, and the week around it books earlier than the rest of the month, so decide sooner for that one.
What a week costs in March
There is no seasonal pricing at The Pearl. The week costs the same in March as in January or October.
| Week | Dorm | Twin | Double | Private |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Surf Reset, surf only, 7 days | €420 | €450 | €510 | €550 |
| The Full Reset, surf + daily sunset yoga, 7 days | €510 | €550 | €610 | €630 |
Included: your room, three meals a day, two hours of coaching and two hours of supervised surf daily, boards and wetsuits, and airport pickup from Agadir. Not included: flights, insurance and personal spending. A €100 deposit per guest holds your spot, with a full refund up to 30 days before arrival, and free date changes 30 or more days out.
Shorter trips of 3 to 5 nights run from €225 (dorm) on The Quick Escape; on that package the airport transfer is an add-on at €30 one way.
Which winter month?
January is the coldest and the most consistent, the month to pick if you want the points at their best and do not mind nights of about 8 to 10°C. February keeps the swell and adds the school-holiday crowd. March keeps regular swell, loses most of the crowd and gains the glassy days and milder nights. Earlier in the season, October and November are warmer in the water and smaller in the waves.
What to pack for March
The 4/3 wetsuit and the board are on the house. Beyond that: a warm layer for 11°C nights, a windproof jacket for the rooftop, sunscreen, because March sun at midday is stronger than it looks from Europe, swimwear for under the suit, and flip-flops. The complete list lives in our packing guide.
Getting here
Pickup from Agadir Al Massira airport, about 40 minutes away, is included on the week packages. The week runs 7 days, 6 nights. Our airport guide has the practicalities, and the FAQ covers the rest.
Quick answers
- Is March a good month to surf in Morocco?
- Yes. It is the last month of the winter swell run, so the points still work, and the first small, glassy days appear between the swells. That mix suits beginners and improvers in the same week.
- How warm is Morocco in March?
- Days about 22°C, nights about 11°C, water about 17°C. The sea warms slowly from April, so March is still a 4/3 wetsuit, which is included.
- Is March crowded?
- Less so than February. Most weeks have room in the line-ups. The exception is Easter week: Easter is on 28 March 2027 and that week books earlier than the rest of the month.
- Can a group with mixed levels come in March?
- Yes, it is one of the best months for it. On bigger days beginners are coached on the beach breaks while improvers surf the points; on small glassy days everyone surfs together.
- Are the March dates open?
- Yes. Choose a week on the booking page. A €100 deposit per guest holds it, refundable in full up to 30 days before arrival, with free date changes 30 or more days out.
