Agadir airport to Taghazout & Tamraght: every option, with real prices

Short answer: the drive from Agadir Al Massira airport (AGA) to Taghazout takes about 40 minutes, and Tamraght — 10 minutes south of Taghazout — is slightly closer. A pre-booked transfer runs €25–35, a grand taxi from the rank is 300–350 MAD for the whole car if you agree the price first, and the bus costs pocket change but eats half your day. The route

Agadir Al Massira sits south-east of the city, inland among the argan trees. Taghazout and Tamraght are up the coast to the north. Every option runs the same way: the ring road around Agadir, then the N1 coast road through Aourir — "Banana Village", you'll smell the fruit stalls before you see them — into Tamraght, and on to Taghazout ten minutes later. It's about 45 km, and outside of summer beach traffic it takes 40 minutes door to door.

That's the whole menu. There is no train, no tram, and — despite what older blog posts claim — no Uber. More on that in the FAQ.

The grand taxi, in detail

Walk out of arrivals and the big cream-coloured Mercedes and Dacia grand taxis are waiting on your right. A fair 2026 price to Tamraght or Taghazout is 300–350 MAD for the car. Two rules, learned the hard way by half the surf coast:

• Agree the total before the doors close. Not "we'll sort it there". A firm number, out loud, before your bag goes in the boot.
• Confirm it's for the car, not per seat. The classic airport misunderstanding is four friends discovering the "300" was each.

Do those two things and the grand taxi is a perfectly good option — the drivers know the coast road blindfolded. Skip them and the arrival negotiation can sour your first hour in Morocco.

The budget run

Bus 32 leaves from outside the terminal and trundles into the Agadir/Inezgane area for a few dirhams. From there you need a second leg north — a shared grand taxi towards Aourir and Taghazout (around 10 MAD per seat) or a local petit taxi to the station first. All-in you'll spend under 50 MAD, and you'll spend two and a half to three hours doing it.

It works in daylight with a backpack. With a board bag, after a long flight, or after dark, it stops being an adventure and starts being a chore. We'd do it at 11am with nothing but a daypack; we wouldn't do it any other way.

Renting a car?

You can — every major desk is at AGA, and the coast road is an easy drive. But be honest about what you'll use it for. At a surf camp the van goes wherever the swell is: our daily transfers to the breaks are included in every package, so a rental mostly sits parked outside the house collecting salt. Rent one if you're planning day trips beyond the surf — Paradise Valley, Essaouira, the Anti-Atlas — not for the airport run alone.

What we recommend, by arrival time

• Morning or early afternoon (before ~16:00). Anything works. Take the grand taxi if you enjoy the sport of it, the transfer if you don't. The budget run is only sensible in this window.
• Evening (16:00–22:00). Pre-booked transfer or grand taxi. The light goes fast on this coast, and you want to arrive in time for dinner, not after it.
• After ~22:00 — book the transfer. Really. Most European flights into AGA land between 22:00 and 02:00, and this is where the other options quietly disappear: the buses have stopped, the taxi rank thins out and prices climb, and the coast road has no streetlights worth mentioning. A driver holding your name at arrivals is the only version of this that isn't a negotiation at midnight. Transfer pricing on this coast confuses everyone, so let's spell ours out:

• Every Pearl week package includes free airport pickup. Book The Surf Reset or The Full Reset and the transfer costs €0 — it's in the price, both directions arranged, nothing to add and nothing to negotiate. Forty minutes door to door, and the driver knows which house you're in.
• Short escapes add it for €30 one-way. The Quick Escape (3–5 nights) doesn't include the pickup, but €30 gets you the same van, the same driver, the same name-board at arrivals — about the same as the taxi rank, without the haggling.
